When it comes to your cookout or barbeque, you want all the food to be so wonderful that your friends never stop talking about it. Part of that is the perfect chili beans recipe. Here is a recipe that is not tomato based and is one kind of extra wonderful for it.
Chili Beans Recipe
The following is a chili beans recipe that will have your guests begging for the recipe. You could give it to them, but why? It is better you’re the hero of the barbeque.
What You Will Need
1 pound dried kidney beans or dried navy beans
1 chopped onion
1/2 cup unsulphured blackstrap molasses
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1/4 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon Seasonest Original Blend seasoning
Wash the beans and check them for stones or dirt. Put them into large pot with 6 cups of water. Bring to boil then turn off the heat and let them sit for 1 hour, covered.
After the hour, bring it to boil again then reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer the beans for 1 hour.
Remove one cup of the bean water and pour it into a crockpot. Drain the beans and add the beans to the crockpot.
Add all the rest of the ingredients.
Cover the crockpot and set it to low. Let it cook on low for 12 hours. When they’re done, you’ll see they have darkened somewhat as the sugar in the sauce has caramelized. This makes them extra good.
Store in the refrigerator until dinner time, but serve them hot.
This chili beans recipe was written for those who suffer with arthritis and other joint pain. Sometimes avoiding the nightshade group of foods (like tomatoes) helps prevent joint pain.
Original Seasoning Blend
Our family fell in love with the Cajun and Creole seasoning and this blend became the inspiration for our company. It is a favorite in our online community because of the delicious New Orleans flavor. It can add flavor to just about anything, especially Salmon.
